Bhaskara II
1114–1185 CE · Algebra, calculus
Also known as Bhaskaracharya. His Lilavati and Bijaganita are landmark works of algebra and arithmetic, several problems posed in verse. He worked with concepts anticipating differential calculus, including an early form of what would become the derivative, centuries before Newton and Leibniz.
